Airstream Update 3: lessons in patience

December 23, 2016

Two days ago, we finished painting the entire Airstream white (except for the blue backsplash in the bathroom). I really didn’t think it would be such a long process since it’s only a 200 sq foot space, but since we kept most of the cabinetry and appliances it took a lot of patience to do … More Airstream Update 3: lessons in patience

In Search of Simpler Times

September 5, 2016

It’s funny how in a couple of generations things can be forgotten, lost in time. Traditions, places, faces. Yet, when revisiting them it reawakens something we’ve never really lost. The first time I visited far west Texas, I was sixteen. I wasn’t truly present to the family road trip, but I do remember the crisp … More In Search of Simpler Times

That blissful feeling when sitting down with a new book from one of your favorite authors. ❤️ Kate Morton - and her latest novel is just as wonderful as I knew it would be. ✨ ⠀ ⠀ “Sentimentality was mawkish and cloying, where nostalgia was acute and aching. It described yearning of the most profound kind: an awareness that time’s passage could not be stopped and there was no going back to reclaim a moment or a person or to do things differently.” - The Clockmaker’s Daughter
Saturday morning still life. 🥞☕️⠀ And the impossible to answer question: pancakes or waffles? 🤔
Wednesday word inspiration. ✨
My habit has always been to tread softly. In nature, not wanting to disturb the deer sleeping beyond our fence or make the fox feel unwelcome. In words, because I’ve always known their power. And I’ve finally learned that living quietly isn’t a character flaw, but a strength of its own. ⠀ ⠀ So in case you’re wondering why my handle changed, it’s just a new expression of what I hope to create here. Nothing fancy or even particularly momentous, just a way for me to center myself in this online space and remember why I’m here.⠀ ⠀ {And if you’re curious to know more - blog link in bio}
After one of the longest weeks ever, I’m home with my other half and we are officially truck owners again for the first time in 5 years. It’s crazy looking back at versions of ourselves that had NO EARTHLY IDEA we’d be marching to a completely different drum. We had always hoped to live simply, and deeply. We just didn’t know what it would look like. And for all this, I’m eternally grateful - and very, very excited for our first little adventure on the road. ⠀ And the sun came out today, so feelin’ all the good Saturday feels.
Another treasure added to the bookworm’s trove. 🌲🐻
