I feel like I missed out not knowing her words for so long, but I’m glad she’s here with me now.

Saturday morning sunlight 🌞

I really wasn’t expecting to love this book, but a little over half way in I couldn’t put it down. Even though Semple paints a satire of modern American life, she still manages to create an endearing picture that even the most dysfunctional situations can bring us closer.

Mid-week pause for the sunrise

11 years ago Mason told me he wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. A lot of things have happened since then. We graduated college, tried military life for a hot second, and burned through about a dozen other career paths and what I like to lovingly call little life subplots. Then on the day before our wedding, a very special pilot took us up in the sky and Mason logged his first flight hours. To this day, it is one of the most profoundly thoughtful gifts I’ve ever witnessed. It was the gift of possibility. An open door. And now 2 years later, Mason is officially a certified commercial pilot.⠀ ⠀ I share this story because it’s one that continues to inspire me day in and day out. If you could see how his face lights up when he talks about flying (and trust me that’s all he wants to talk about 😂), you wouldn’t ever believe that this wasn’t what he was meant to be. It just took some time and grit to get there. All dreams are possible. The sky is the limit - and like they say, the time will pass anyway. ✨
